Course Description:

This presentation will introduce the audience to the history and current status of the field of equine facilitated psychotherapy. There will be a discussion of the unique benefits of this type of therapy, populations with which the therapy is applicable, and criteria for patient inclusion/exclusion. Examples of this approach will be presented. The need for empirical research in order to validate the effectiveness of this approach will be addressed.
